Paul and Gill are 14 days into their North and South Island of New Zealand tour. They hit some bad weather yesterday and I warned them to perhaps spend the day chilling at Fiordland Lodge rather than riding into Milford Sound (the wettest place in New Zealand) but my advice was not heeded. The email I got from him last night said “So, just to prove, as if any further proof was required, that British blokes have no brain… we went to Milford Sound today! After breakfast it looked not too bad, so off we went. Within half an hour it was pissing it down, and it rained hard the whole trip - five hours in all. We got a bit wet! Just back, showered and a bottle of Cloudy Bay has just arrived. Brilliant! Saved me washing the bike too. Fiordland Lodge is another stonker. Lovely people, great grub, and wonderful position.”
